PlatinumMan's thread expansion - Becoming Scottish Nobility

GOOD DAY MY FREAKS & GEEKS BRETHREN...

Fun and looong Nobility quiz that was by PlatinumMan! that reminds me...

A while back my dad often suggested the idea to own land. On Facebook he stumbled on an Advert for becoming a Noble in The Highlands! That way you can have your own piece of land without outer interference telling you to give up on it.
So for the fun of it he looked it up. Guess what?

In Scotland, more specifically Glencoe Wood or Lochaber you can by a plot of land and get a noble title. The lowest, but still...

You can be named Laird, Lord or Lady. Most nobles will call you laird because you became it financially, rather than a true noble who's knighted. It also won't be registered, being to insignificant to possess say 4 square foot of land.

But it looks great on business cards! ^^

It's actually an initiative to preserve nature in the highlands. Prices are 50 EUR or 37.5 for couples each square foot. For the interested: Highlandtitles dot com. A quote from it:

Like an Englishman, a Scot's home may be his castle but it's never going to provide a short cut to nobility.

You own a souvenir plot, but it's a freehold towards the Crown. One time payment, no tax, but no "selling" of the title. They " acknowledge the title of Lair.

YOU ALSO WON'T GET A COAT OF ARMS!!! BOO-HOO-HOOOH!

It's just fun fantasizing about it though!!!

Your name would be Laird, Lord, Duke, Earl, Lady - though like I said Laird & Lady commonly + a self-chosen name (like your surname and last name, but can also be combining middle names) plus "of Glencoe and Lochaber".

So let's say my dad: Peter Gabriel Albert Brants
=> Laird Peter Bran of Glencoe and Lochaber
=> Laird Petriel of Glencoe and Lochaber
=> Laird Peter McAlbran of Glencoe and Lochaber

Now you guys make a mix and give your nobility names. Of course you don't have to give your true names. Just for funsies!!!

PS: My dad not to happy about the second name I came up with - Albert + Brants = Albran. Suuure...

But All-bran is a well-known sub-brand of European cereals  😂 😂 😂 ðŸ˜‚  😂

Imagine...
